These Moorhead post peelers were first designed and built in Australia in the mid 1990s by Shane Moorhead at Moorhead Engineering Pty Ltd.
Over the last 10 years, the machines have proven their superior quality and durability in harsh Australian and New Zealand conditions. Each log rounding machine is built individually to suit the clients unique production requirements and setting, with a range of options available to allow the machine to be portable or fixed, diesel or mains electricity driven, and sizing ranges pre-configured to suit your market.
Several automated in-feed options are also available, allowing you to run your Log Rounder with a single operator, in an era when labour is one of your most expensive and precious resources.
Available in a choice of models to cater for logs from 90mm to 400mm in diameter, and up to 12 metres in length, depending on the machine, the dowel machine operates with a rotating head, containing a set of 4 innovative bent peeling knives which peel and finish the log in one action; reducing tearing around softwood knots, and providing a superior finish.
The knives are set into pre-drilled holes in a sizing ring in the rotating head, and a machine size change takes only around 20 minutes by an experienced operator.
The Moorhead Perfect Log Rounders are built to last in tough Australian conditions with minimal maintenance, retaining the excellent finish quality they are renown for.
